Translator Obligations under International Standard ISO 17100

By accepting a translation project that we send you, it becomes your obligation to translate in accordance with the purpose of the project, including the linguistic conventions of the target language and the relevant project specifications. You accept responsibility for the final product and will be held accountable for your work.
Translation Quality Criteria
Throughout this process, your service must conform to International Standard ISO 17100 with regard to the following:
- Compliance with specific domain and client terminology and/or any other reference material provided as well as ensuring terminological consistency during translation
- Semantic accuracy of the target language content
- Appropriate syntax, spelling, punctuation, diacritical marks, and other orthographical conventions of the target language
- Lexical cohesion and phraseology
- Compliance with any proprietary and/or client style guide (including domain, language register, and language variants)
- Locale and any applicable standards
- Formatting
- Target audience and purpose of the target language content.
Final Check
At the end of your translation process, you are to carry out a final check. This includes the overall self-revision of the target content for possible semantic, grammatical and spelling issues, and for omissions and other errors, as well as ensuring compliance with any relevant translation project specifications. You shall make any corrections necessary prior to delivery.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
- You are responsible for taking all necessary precautions to safeguard the source, target or reference material by making sure that your working environment is physically and technologically secure.
- You must not disclose any information contained in this email or its attachment to any third party.
- You must not subcontract any of the work you receive, unless explicitly agreed with us.
- Upon completion of a project, you must delete all source, target, and reference files as well as any emails that contain such files.
